MS Excel is a Must-Have Skill

Lifelong Learning attended the annual conference of the Texas Administrators of Continuing Education last month. One of the most valuable presentations that day was by the Texas Workforce Commission. After a lengthy study with Texas employers, one main conclusion stood out: that to get hired (and be promotable), knowing MS Excel is a MUST.

career key

The key to job success may lie in MS Excel.

MS Excel is the standard for all accounting, bookkeeping, logistics, administrative, and organizational work. Though plenty of proprietary software exists that tend to be more detailed in specific tasks, almost all of that software is based on the Excel model. Therefore, those who know Excel can transfer much of their knowledge to tracking software programs such as Quickbooks, Peachtree, and the like.

Lifelong Learning offers courses in MS Excel 2010. Like in most businesses, our Excel software is still based on the Windows 7 platform; a lot of software is not yet compatible with the new Windows 8 operating system. Therefore, students in our classes are able to learn in a real-world environment.

For the Summer 2013 session, we offer classes in Intro to Excel ($55) and Everyday Functions in Excel ($75). Get a jumpstart – or improve –  on your career by taking these short and VERY useful classes! Come see what we have on our main website.
